I am f****g done.

I am f****g done.

I am f****g done.

Done with the are women entitled to their bodily autonomy debate. The is racism a problem debate. The should gay and trans people be allowed to live their lives in peace debate.

These are not debatable to me, and I am grateful to my rage for reminding me of that…reminding me of my values.

My reaction to Trump saying that immigrants are poisoning the blood of this country is a reminder that I am anti-racist. That I will fight to keep people who think like that out of power. I’m not just not a racist—I am against racism with all my heart and soul.

My reaction to the Kate Cox story—the absolute fury I felt listening to her interviews—reminded me how virulently I want my bodily autonomy recognized by this nation. The nation I was born in. The country where I am raising my family. My fury reminds me I deserve as much autonomy as men. All women do.

When I read that the Speaker of the House called gay marriage a “dark harbinger of chaos” the pit that opened in my stomach filled with rage, keeping me from falling into the depths of despair. It pulled me up and pushed me to act, to write, to step forward and make sure my voice is heard.

There are lots of people who are like me. Who believe I’m a full person and deserve control of my body. Who can see the damage that white supremacy has wrought on our country–how it is impossible to live up to the ideals of this nation while we are ignoring systematic racism. Who know that love is love and there is no reason to restrict the freedom of our citizens based on what gender they want to share romantic relationships with or be recognized as.

And that’s who I write books for–people who are just f*****g done with all this bullshit and need a break. A break from being civil and engaging in discourse. A break from debating our humanity.

My Sydney Rye Mysteries are cathartic. They allow you to release your rage.

Sydney Rye and her dog, Blue, exact justice with a vengeance. The dog doesn’t die, but the bad guys do. And it feels awesome.
