Like this year wasn’t rough.Like each day doesn’t bring new levels of f**kery.
For those of us who can see what is happening, it’s torturous. Part of the pain is all the people who can’t see how glaringly obvious the right path is and are trying to drag us down their slippery slope, right back into the muck of hierarchy and disparity.
With this existential struggle waging, maybe even more so because of it, I am grateful for many things.
For my family and friends. My dog and horse. My health and wealth. My work and readers.
My greatest hope as an author is to keep people up at night fighting sandpapery eyes, and drooping lids, to continue reading. I’ve always aimed to enthrall readers and whisk them away, knowing how much I adore that sensation. Knowing how much it is a balm for my soul.
Since the election, I’ve received many notes from readers telling me how my books are helping them right now. I am so grateful to be in a position to provide comfort in these dark days. It means the world to me.
There is reason to be angry and fearful. But also to be grateful. We will need the full spectrum of emotions to move things forward.
Thank you all for being in my world and reading my words. It is an honor.
