I would like to find a path forward...

I would like to find a path forward...

Where all humans can live in peace and equity. There are lots of people who are better at bringing this vision to reality than I am for many reasons. I will list several of them now…

1. I write violent feminist adventure fiction. Pretty sure that’s not gonna bring about world peace anytime soon. Sure, it’s cathartic and I certainly enjoy the fuck out of it. And yeah, people have told me that my books mean a lot to them—inspiring them to take action in their lives. But I’m not expecting the Nobel committee to consider my name anytime soon.

2. I am angry. Really pissed at the world and society for how it’s doing so much dumb shit all the damn time. And I don’t think rage is the answer to our problems. It may be a catalyst for change, but it’s not the solution. More anger is not going to transform our society, and I am not a big enough person to just let all that shit go and worry about my own evolution. I am busy being mad over here, people.

3. All I want to do is write books, sell them with ease, hang out with my friends and family…generally enjoy my life. Of course, I vote, and I donate to causes that are important to me. But if you’re on the forefront of the revolution it’s hard AF. The only people coming at me are internet trolls, and those fools are easy to defeat with my mighty pen. Trying to change the world turns you into a target for those who want to keep it the same—just ask Sydney Rye. I don’t want to be a target. I want to be an author who drinks wine and reads books…I want peace.

One of the things I like about my books is they let you fight for justice from your armchair. The amazing thing about that, and why readers have told me that my books changed their lives, is because viscerally experiencing bringing justice to life on the page helps you do it in real life.

Don’t get me wrong, my readers are not violently ending corrupt power brokers (to my knowledge), but we can have our own revolutions. We can recover from surgeries one step at a time. We can open businesses we always wanted to share with the world. We can do a lot. Even if it doesn’t save the world. We can’t all be heroes like Sydney Rye, but if we find our power, we can change our world for the better.

Sydney Rye and her dog exact justice with a vengeance so you don’t have too.
