“Filthiest language I’ve ever seen in print.”
Now, there is a lot to love here. But let’s break it down.
Let’s start with the word “filthy”. So evocative. You can almost smell it, right? You feel that word in your gut. Chef’s kiss, really.
“In print”, this implies she has seen filthier language in another medium.
Personally, I have questions. But I love that she felt the need to be specific. Really, it’s helping control my ego because she also said “I’ve ever seen.”
That means I am number #1 in this woman’s world—at least in print. The filthiest on record. How could I not be proud? To be the best at anything is an honor, but to have the filthiest language…
That is a feat.
One of my favorite parts is that my books are not actually that filthy. I know, I’m also disappointed in myself, too. But they are just not that dirty.
They are unhinged, feral, and cathartic. Sure. And yes, I use the word f**k. A lot. But this is not some dark romance where a masked man is whispering filthy words into the ear of his kidnap victim who is falling in love with him, ya know?
Maybe it’s imposter syndrome, maybe my books really are using the most rank, disgusting, just downright inappropriate language. Honestly, I hope so.
But what I do know is that Sydney Rye and her dog, Blue, exact justice with a vengeance. The dog doesn’t die, but abusive men do. And for at least one person, it was the filthiest language they’ve ever seen in print.
I’ll let you judge for yourself.
