Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday because grateful is my favorite way to be.

Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday because grateful is my favorite way to be.

We all know I’m not nice. My compassion does not extend to ICE officers tearing mothers from their children. Or racists, rapist con-men running grifts on the propagandized. I hope all those men in the Epstein files rot in Hell because I have zero faith that our justice system will do jack shit about their crimes.

I hate people in very real and visceral ways. When that demented loser in the Oval Office finally dies, I will celebrate.

And I’m grateful for that. I am grateful to be on the right side of history. Grateful not to be afraid of my rage or spiritually bypassed into thinking I need to love everyone, even shit stains like Stephen Miller—who I may hate even more than Trump, hard to say.

My hatred knows as few bounds as my love. And I’m not afraid of that. I’m thankful for it.

I’m grateful to feel the full rainbow of human emotions.

I’m thankful there are so many people on my side, fighting with me to stop these fucking fascists whose hate is founded in their own loathing. Mine is founded in love.

Love for myself and my community. Love for freedom, for human rights, for diversity.

I love that the world is a wild, varied place filled with countless cultures, traditions, and beliefs. I am grateful to not be threatened by people who are different than me—but rather excited to learn and celebrate what makes each of us unique.

I’m grateful I believe all humans have equal value and deserve equal rights—even shit stains deserve habeas corpus (I will watch Miller’s trial with popcorn and absolute fucking glee). Even unhinged narcissists deserve free speech. Everyone deserves shelter, healthcare, clean air, safe water, and nourishing food.

No matter if I hate them or love them, all humans share the same inalienable rights. I’m grateful I believe that instead of whatever sick twisted shit Stephen Miller believes. 🤢

I’m grateful that my hard work and good luck landed me in this body, in this world, at this time, writing the books I want to read, loving the people I love, and fighting the fights I fight.

I’m grateful for you, dear readers, all of you. Thank you for reading my books, listening to my rants, and being here.

Happy Thanksgiving,

Emily

P.S. Happy Thanksgiving from Sunny Bear and me. Thank you for being part of our world.
