If I thought there were just as many female serial killers, but they were just too smart to get caught.

And I said: “Or men are too stupid to catch them.”

She laughed and was like, "Oh yeah, I love that idea—that we don't even have to be that much smarter. They'll just overlook us because they don't think we're capable of anything, let alone serial killing."

And that's a ploy Sydney Rye uses a lot—the weak little girl who couldn't possibly commit the murders she does. It’s seriously one of my favorite micro tropes.

So here are five times Sydney Rye used misogyny for her own gain:

  1. One time she bypassed elite Dignitary Protection by acting "totally turned around," leveraging the guards' sexist belief that women get lost easily to get close to her target.

  2. She once lured two predatory men into a dark Manhattan alley by pretending to be a vulnerable "random woman," only to execute a brutal attack once they were isolated.

  3. Sydney adopted the "rich man’s wife" persona to infiltrate a gala where her target dismissed her as a mere trophy instead of a lethal threat.

  4. One time the fragile egos of her victims made them lie to police about being attacked by a "group of men and pit bulls" to hide the embarrassment of being bested by a lone woman leaving Sydney free of consequences.

  5. She baited a tech psychopath with a "mercenary little minx" persona, using his assumption that she was a gold digger to sell him fake secrets.

If you also love the idea of a woman using men’s underestimation of her to take advantage of them, start or continue the Sydney Rye Mysteries today.
