You don't make one of your main characters a dog if you're not that into them. 😂
My husband is not a dog lover, but he understands we will always have one in residence...possibly two once the kids get a little older. 🐕 🐕
As a dog lover, I know how hard it is to be without one—and sometimes life forces us into situations where we can't bring our four-legged friends with us.
After we lost our dog, Kinsey, we went almost five years without a dog. Our daughter was young, and we traveled so much it just didn't make sense to adopt another.
Blue, the dog in my Sydney Rye Mysteries, helped me through that period. Yes, he's fictional, so 𝘰𝘧 𝘤𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘴𝘦 it's not the same. But when I'm writing a Sydney Rye Mystery, I FEEL like he is with me. I get the same sense of ease when I'm with Blue as I do when I'm with my non fictional dog, Sunny Bear…though Blue’s training puts Sunny Bear to shame. 😂
