Innocent men are being sent to El Salvador slave labor prisons without due process. Scotus ruled 9-0 that skipping due process is definitely not allowed, and the Trump administration gives no f***s.
The dumbest tariffs are shaking the world economy. An unelected billionaire who thinks empathy is “the fundamental weakness of Western civilization” and his band of bros are elbow deep in the federal government ripping out her guts.
Did I mention the group chat on the commercial app? The one about classified attack plans—in which they said Europe never did anything for us...like they full on forgot about the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.
So what can we do? Well, you all know I’m writing and reading. They ban books for a reason, and I obviously recommend mine for catharsis and community.
I’d also like to encourage you to call and write to your representatives. It may seem like a weak response to the tsunami of crimes flooding from this administration, but it does help.
If you, like me, don’t enjoy speaking on the phone, call when the offices are closed and leave a voicemail. You can also send a letter. I’ve been snail mailing my reps.
I know it’s hard to pay attention when it feels like there is nothing you can do. But you do have power. So much more than you realize.
There is also a responsibility to bear witness to the horrors happening in our name. We cannot turn away and hope someone else will save us from this cruel cabal of Nazi f***heads.
Be brave.
