I mean, so many things. But this one is just hitting me right in the “female rage” feels.
New federal legislation wants to force women having medically induced home abortions to collect the blood and tissue they expel in “catch kits”.
Why?
To protect water. 😂
Which is such a f***ing joke. Because the Republicans don’t give a f*** about clean water, or they wouldn’t be rolling back all the EPA regulations that protect it.
Miscarriages are not litter. They are not pollution. It does not need to be “caught” and brought to a doctor.
Of course, they could store them with all the unprocessed rape kits.
Between 200,000 and 400,000 rape kits are sitting untested in storage facilities. Some have been there for decades. In Detroit, over 11,000 untested kits were discovered in a single warehouse in 2009 — some dating back to the 1980s.
Each kit represents a person who, after being sexually assaulted, endured a four-to-six hour invasive medical examination — every inch of their body swabbed, scraped, photographed, and documented. They endured this additional trauma believing it would help catch their attacker.
Which it totally would have if they’d actually been f***ing processed. When researchers finally tested a portion of Detroit’s backlog, 28% of the kits matched DNA profiles already in the national database. They were serial, known offenders.
There is no federal law requiring rape kits to be tested or even tracked — we literally don’t know how many there are because no one is required to count them.
The kits sit in storage and the offenders keep offending. While the survivors — who did everything “right” — are denied justice.
But if that same survivor needs an abortion. That we’re gonna track?!
This isn’t about clean water. It’s about humiliating and controlling women.
If they wanted clean water they’d ban PFAS. If they wanted women safe, they’d arrest rapists. If they want women to “catch” their blood and tissue they can go f*** themselves.
It’s s*** like this that makes me run to my manuscript and push a misogynist into a jet engine. 😂
