Of exploiting my beliefs to sell books. As if Iโm only a feminist for marketing purposes and it's totally unrelated to the fact that I am, in fact, a woman. In the mind of these accusers, the ONLY reason to say I think I have equal value to men is to sell books. I know, it's idiotic.
But there are men ๐ข๐ฏ๐ฅ women out there who think my belief in the value of every humanโno matter who or what they areโis a ploy to trick people out of their money by getting them to buy the books Iโve spent my entire adult life crafting. Which would be super tricky of me except for the fact that sounds like a TON of work. ๐ Spoiler alert: writing dozens of novels isn't a get rich quick scheme no matter how "woke" you make them. ๐ And writing books you don't enjoy is near impossible.
Then there are the people who believe me that I'm a feminist for the blatantly obvious reasons a woman would be but think talking about climate change, the dangers of religious zealotry, and my intense rage at white supremacist patriarchy in my marketing somehow makes those beliefs disingenuous. Apparently, if I take my rage, turn it into art, and then use that art to win at capitalism, itโs wrong. ๐ค
And, in a way, I get that. Raging women who write fiction arenโt supposed to be this successful. But thatโs part of the fun for meโdoing ๐ฉ Iโm not supposed to do.
Because f*** it. Iโm not taking any s***. Iโm not giving any f***s. And Iโm gonna make bank because of that attitude, not in spite of it.
