Things are getting better…
⛓️ Supply chain stuff is sorting itself out, buying a car is no longer reminiscent of the Hunger Games.
🧻 We have not feared for toilet paper in years now, the first initial adrenaline of Covid has faded to a memory. One we can hardly believe—but a memory none the less. It’s no longer raw or terrifying. There is grief and joy wrapped around that time.
🇺🇸 The leader of the free world isn’t saying something incendiary every thirty seconds, there are no riots in the streets, the fabric of society, while threadbare, is currently intact.
More crises loom though…
🌪️ Inevitable climate disasters
🗳️ The 2024 election—guaranteed to be a stress inducing 💩 show no matter the outcome.
🌆 The next historic event…what’s left on your bingo card?
We need to be doing all the things:
✅ Voting
✅ Volunteering
✅ Donating
✅ Speaking up
✅ Fighting back
Actions are important and empowering, but they won’t give you the mental break you need to FEEL safe.
Fiction does that.
Reading stories helps illuminate our own. Good fiction reminds us who we are and what we are fighting for. It fills us up, recharges us for the battles ahead.
